Good customer service – or excellent customer service – which one are you getting?

Well it’s been an eventful week here at mirus, with lots of lovely events taking place. Picking up on two of those events that are beautifully linked…

The beginning of the week saw me at a meeting with one of our wonderful speakers – Mr Scott Garrett. We enjoyed a conversation about life, the universe, and Waitrose customer service! Giving exceptional customer service is a matter of choice and attitude and some companies get it so very right. The end of my week saw me with clients Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons who not only get it right but exceed expectation.

For us, customer service is everything, and always has been. When you are in receipt of great service life flows that little bit better. When you are giving a great service life flows a huge amount better. When the John Lewis Partnership trains it’s staff they are taught to go the extra mile and it shows hugely both at John Lewis and Waitrose. As for Le Manoir they are in a league of their own.

Customer Service is the heartbeat of mirus media – don’t settle for less than best when booking your speaker. Work with a company that will go the extra mile for you too.

Celebrity vs Non Celebrity

When should you book a celebrity or a speaker that is relatively not heard of in other words…

Well there are two main issues here. That of audience demographic and that of budget.

                1. If you are keen to attract media attention

                2. If a celebrity will sell tickets to your event – put bums on seats

                3. If you want to make a wow! of an impact

                4. If you have a substantial budget

                5. If you want to build hype prior to your event

Then a celebrity may be your best route!

However there are many fabulous speakers available, that don’t carry celebrity status, that will do the job for you with equal or better aplomb. It’s always a good idea, even if you have made up your mind, to chat through your requirements with an experienced professional to make sure you have chosen the right direction. mirus media will always ask you that question as a matter of course, that way we know you are getting the best value for your budget.

“Subtle, intelligent, perceptive, observant and very, very funny.”
The Scotsman

Since his first solo show in a modest 60-seater at the Edinburgh Fringe back in 2001, Danny Bhoy’s star has continued to rise. His 8th solo show at the Fringe last year to packed-out houses in one of the biggest venues in town, tells only a small part of the incredible journey this young Scottish comic has taken.

In just a short few years, Danny has built up a massive following everywhere he has been. He has continually smashed his own box office records in Australia and New Zealand as well as in his home country of Scotland. As probably the most travelled comedian working in the World today, Danny’s unique brand of story-telling and razor sharp wit has been described as “effortlessly funny” by one critic, and “the stand up equivalent of Bill Bryson” by another.

Click here to view the video on YouTube.

On the other side of the Atlantic, his recent appearances at the Montreal Just For Laughs Comedy Festival have created a stir among audiences and critics alike with the Montreal Gazette describing him as “the stand out hit of the festival” in the same year he was also nominated for a Gemini Award for Best Individual Comedy Performance. In 2008 he had the honour of appearing on the prestigious All Star Gala, usually reserved for veteran comics of the festival. After unprecedented sell-out theatre runs in Montreal and Toronto this year, Danny is currently preparing for a solo tour of Canada early next year.

After the huge success of his first DVD ‘Live at The Opera House’, Danny has just released his 2nd DVD ‘Live at the Athenaeum’ which features more hilarious yarns from this most gifted of performers. In July 2009, he also recorded a highly prestigious 1-hour Comedy Central Special. The special will be aired in the US early next year. Danny moved to LA in August 2009 in preparation for an extensive tour of the US and Canada to coincide with the release of the Special (which will also be released on DVD.) Danny Bhoy’s worldwide fanbase continues to grow at a staggering pace.

“He creates a remarkable intimacy with his audience. A must-see.”
The Age, Australia

“His routines have the mark of those which are quoted from, for years to come.”
The Herald, UK

“If there is any justice in the world he’d be a huge star”

– Time Out

“Micky’s take on his working-class East End background is side-splitting… The rising star Micky Flanagan”

– Stephen Armstrong, The Sunday Times

“Micky Flanagan was the highlight of the evening. He told the tales with animation and style. He was confident, assured and the audience was with him all the way. Micky Flanagan was the funniest man on the floor.”

– BBC.co.uk

“The charming Micky Flanagan is very confident and even enigmatic, he uses pace and silence with skill and has a strong physicality.”

– The Stage

“Micky is the very embodiment of the cheeky, chirpy Cockney, and his chatty, effervescent delivery engages the most reticent of rooms. The infectious energy is also heightened by his exaggerated, almost camp, reactions. It all makes for a rambunctious set that’s sometimes rude, sometimes thoughtful, but rarely short of hilarious.”
